Brooklyn rocked a Maje skirt and top paired with Giambattista Valli shoes while visiting the Today show studio to promote her new movie “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” on Wednesday (May 9) in NYC. Brooklyn also chatted about her other movie ‘Battleship’, and how she was eventually cast in the action flick.

Just being a gorgeous, onetime Sports Illustrated model doesn’t mean directors are automatically blown away when you decide to become an actress. Nope, as Brooklyn Decker, co-star of the upcoming “Battleship” movie discovered, it takes something special, from your insides.

Like snot bubbles.

“They kept bringing me in [for auditions] and telling me I wasn’t tough enough,” reported Decker (who is also co-starring in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”) during a TODAY appearance Wednesday morning. “And I’m just thinking, this is torture.”

So how could she prove herself? The director gave her a specific instruction. “My director said, ‘You have to make snot bubbles if you want this part.’”

“I had to make snot bubbles come from my nose,” she said, and while she didn’t replicate the process, her interviewers — Ann Curry, Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie — were suitably grossed out.

Brooklyn Decker, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, and Anna Kendrick are all smiles on the cover of Redbook magazine’s June 2012 issue, on newsstands May 15th. In the interview, the stars open up about their experiences with relationships, marriage and motherhood. Here’s what Brooklyn had to share:

I would hope I’m in a position where I have a guy who is going to be helping me all the way through-even when I’m moody and craving ice cream at 12 a.m. It didn’t take me long to know that Andy was the guy I was going to marry, and [what kind of dad he'd be] absolutely went through my mind when making that decision.

Brooklyn Decker and her husband, tennis pro Andy Roddick, have plans to start a family down the road – and it will include their own biological kids as well as adopted children, according to the model.

I want to adopt a child or a baby with an intellectual disability one day,” Decker tells Canadian magazine Flare. “I mean, that’s in the distant future, but that’s always been a goal of mine.”

Brooklyn said she was inspired to do so by her aunt, a Special Olympics athlete.

Unfortunately a lot of kids with intellectual disabilities are given up for adoption when they’re born ’cause it’s a lot for a family,” she told Flare.
