Biography

Early life
Brooklyn Danielle Decker was born on April 12, 1987 in Kettering, Ohio, and raised in Charlotte, N.C. Her mother is Tessa (née Moore), a nurse, and her father is Stephen Decker, a pacemaker seller. Brooklyn grew up with dreams of one day becoming a veterinarian. “That’s because my parents are big animal lovers,” she explains. “We have four dogs and a cat.”

Modelling Career
Brooklyn was discovered at 16 in a shopping mall and began her career as the face of Mauri Simone, a popular prom dress maker. Brooklyn’s modeling agency promptly entered her in a number of contests and she rewarded their faith by running away with the 2003 Model of the Year award at the Connections Model and Talent Convention.

Brooklyn’s rising profile soon attracted the attention of national periodicals and she began posing for Teen Vogue, Seventeen, Elle Girl, Vogue, FHM, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and Spin. In fact, Brooklyn found herself to be in such high demand that she made the decision to leave Charlotte behind to head for the bright lights of New York City.

In 2005, within two months of moving to the Big Apple, Brooklyn auditioned for the prestigious Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, in which she first appeared in 2006. “I just got lucky with Sports Illustrated,” she admits. “There are many jobs when I go in and they’re just like ‘Eh’ and they kind of brush me away. That’s OK. That’s part of the job. I’m happy that the people who did love me were from SI.”

SI weren’t the only ones, though. Victoria’s Secret caught wind of Brooklyn’s selection and immediately booked her to model for their own swimsuit catalog. “So, there I was shooting Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated in the matter of one week,” she says. “I was completely outside myself that whole week. I would pray and I would say, ‘Lord, is this really happening or am I in a big dream?’”

Brooklyn was chosen cover girl for the 2010 edition, shot on location in the Maldives islands. On February 8, 2010, David Letterman announced on the Late Show with David Letterman that Brooklyn had been chosen as the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit covermodel. Calling her selection “the news of a lifetime,” Brooklyn admitted that her mother cried when she heard her daughter would grace the cover.

Movies and TV
In 2007 fans saw more of Brooklyn in action on the NBC comedy Lipshitz Saves the World, as well as in She Says, Z Says, a Sports Illustrated online feature in which she goes head to head with football beat-writer Paul Zimmerman. Brooklyn made guest appearances on Ugly Betty, Chuck and Royal Pains where she played swimsuit model Rachel, while Peter Jacobson played Alan, her nebbish husband.

Now you can catch Brooklyn on screen in her first movie ‘Just Go With It’ alongside Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Currently Brooklyn is working on her other big movie called ‘Battleship’.

Personal life
During the 2007 Davis Cup final between the USA and Russia, Decker was seen in the crowd supporting American tennis player Andy Roddick. On March 31, 2008, Roddick announced on his website that he and Decker were engaged, and they were married in a private ceremony in Austin, Texas on April 17, 2009.
