Decker says she’s happy the film allowed her to play a “strong girl” character, and she also discusses working with Wounded Warrior spokesperson Col. Gregory Gadson, who acts in the film.

Brooklyn rocked a Maje skirt and top paired with Giambattista Valli shoes while visiting the Today show studio to promote her new movie “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” on Wednesday (May 9) in NYC. Brooklyn also chatted about her other movie ‘Battleship’, and how she was eventually cast in the action flick.

Just being a gorgeous, onetime Sports Illustrated model doesn’t mean directors are automatically blown away when you decide to become an actress. Nope, as Brooklyn Decker, co-star of the upcoming “Battleship” movie discovered, it takes something special, from your insides.

Like snot bubbles.

“They kept bringing me in [for auditions] and telling me I wasn’t tough enough,” reported Decker (who is also co-starring in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”) during a TODAY appearance Wednesday morning. “And I’m just thinking, this is torture.”

So how could she prove herself? The director gave her a specific instruction. “My director said, ‘You have to make snot bubbles if you want this part.’”

“I had to make snot bubbles come from my nose,” she said, and while she didn’t replicate the process, her interviewers — Ann Curry, Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie — were suitably grossed out.

Brooklyn covers June issue of Flare magazine wearing a top and skirt by Peter Pilotto, a cuff by Jennifer Fisher and a ring by M.C.L by Matthew Campbell Laurenza. Here are some BTS pics and the cover itself:

Brooklyn talked to Flare about her style, muses and love for fashion:

These days Brooklyn Decker, 25, plays in blockbusters opposite superstars such as Cameron Diaz and Alexander Skarsgård. But it’s clear this fashion lover from North Carolina hasn’t forgotten her days as a top model, when she posed for Victoria’s Secret, American Eagle Outfitters and, perhaps most famously, the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 2010 swimsuit issue.

Decker made a stylish arrival on set (a glam Hollywood Hills mansion) in Current/Elliott black leather leggings, a Sass & Bide black tank and a By Malene Birger beige peacoat. In front of the camera, she breezed through the sexy-sporty shoot wearing looks by Victoria Beckham, Peter Pilotto and Stella McCartney—proving she’ll no doubt be a natural on the red carpet circuit this summer, too.

On her style: “I like the tomboy look and military influences. I like things that have a little bit of an edge to them. I love a masculine spin on a feminine look. I’m trying to wear things that are tailored to me so you can actually see my shape but it’s like pulling teeth getting me to do it–it’s an evolution.”

Brooklyn Decker may seem like the girl who has it all, but apparently not everything comes easily to the supermodel-turned-actress. According to the 24-year-old beauty, Battleship director Peter Berg made her prove she had real acting chops before giving her a highly sought after role in the Summer blockbuster. PopSugar met up with Brooklyn at the movie’s press junket at the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii recently to hear about the brutal audition process. Brooklyn also talked about her girl crush on Rihanna, her love scene with Taylor Kitsch, and explained how she handles watching her onscreen hookups when husband Andy Roddick is by her side. Check out PopSugar interview with Brooklyn and catch Battleship when it hits theaters May 18!

Brooklyn is featured in GQ’s May issue, on newsstands April 24. Check out this new sexy photoshoot and scans from the magazine in our gallery. Below you will also find the BTS video and Brooklyn’s interview for the magazine.

She’s a fast talker. She speaks her mind. She looks bonkers in a bikini. Yes, She’s still married to that handsome tennis player who almost always makes it to the quarterfinals. But don’t worry—she says we have permission to stare. That’s why Brooklyn Decker is, now and forever, the kind of girl who really floats our boat

If the men of America have been waiting for Andy Roddick to blow it with his smoking-hot wife, Brooklyn Decker, a golden opportunity may have come and gone a few months ago. It happened while the couple were watching Bridesmaids—her sixth time, his first—and Roddick made the mistake of saying aloud what he thought of Kristen Wiig’s character: “That chick is crazy.” Decker swiftly corrected him, both in the hotel room and on Twitter. “I feel like her character is my inner soul,” she explains now. “The ways she acts are my inner thoughts, but I just can’t express them because they’re too nerdy. So if he was calling her crazy, I guess that makes me slightly crazy.”

Brooklyn got to spend some time with Rihanna on the set of Battleship, and like most other human beings we know, found herself getting a tad jealous of ol’ RiRi.

“I was a little jealous of Rihanna’s guns,” Brooklyn told us. “I wish I could have shot a few more guns because that was pretty cool, I was very impressed with her gun skills.”

Being the bitter hacks that we are, we always like it when people say “Oh yeah she’s beautiful and clever and talented, but she’s actually a horrible human being.” No such luck with Rihanna.

“She’s great,” Brooklyn went on. “We actually didn’t get to do a ton of scenes together, but the little time we had together – she’s just fantastic. She was game for anything and ready to just show up and work, and that’s what I respect most about her.”
